Miller's Clutch Three-Pointer Sinks Northwood in Season Opener Thriller

The Faraway High School boys' basketball team kicked off their season with a heart-stopping 58–55 victory over their rivals, Northwood. The game, held at the Faraway gym, was a defensive battle until the final seconds when sophomore guard David Miller drained a three-pointer with just 4.2 seconds left on the clock.

Coach Alan Kim praised the team’s resilience. "Northwood is tough, but we kept our focus. David came through when it mattered most, showing veteran composure. This win sets a fantastic tone for the rest of the season." Star forward Kevin Lee led the scoring with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The Falcons’ next home game is Friday against Orange Grove Academy.

Falcons Soccer Soars into Regional Semi-Finals after Penalty Shootout Victory

The Faraway girls’ soccer team secured a thrilling spot in the regional semi-finals last night, overcoming the formidable Sunny Side team after a tense penalty shootout. The game ended 1–1 after overtime, with goalkeeper Kazuyo Fukuda making two incredible saves during the shootout to clinch the win.

The entire town is buzzing with excitement as the team prepares to face the undefeated Riverside team next Thursday. Coach Elena Cruz is confident in her team’s preparation. "We know Riverside is strong, but our defense has never been tighter. We're ready for the challenge and hope the town comes out to support us."

Cross Country Team Finishes Strong at District Meet

The Faraway Cross Country team achieved strong results at the District Meet over the weekend, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams finishing in the top five. Senior runner Emily Hayes finished 3rd overall in the girls’ competition, setting a new personal best time for the 5K course. The team celebrated its last race of the season with a celebratory picnic hosted by the Booster Club.

"It was a fantastic season full of determination and teamwork," said Athletic Director Mr. Davies.
